The Mysterious Tornado (Story by a 7 year old)

PLESSY & LESSY

Once upon time there were two twin sisters Plessy and Lessy. They were born on August 20th 2028. They went to Free Fall Friz School. Then they went to Pack-n-Go for Kindergarten and all the grades. One day, when they were reading in the school library - they found some kittens in a library book box. The kittens made alot of mess in the library. Before the teacher came they caught all the kittens and hid them. The kittens were cute and they loved them alot. The kittens could do TRICKS. It was fantastic.

TO THE CRICUS
The girls thought kittens were awesome. They wanted to take the kittens to the circus because they were really good at doing tricks. But they did not know that the kittens were actually MONSTERS. When the kittens heard the girls say that they were going to take them to the circus they stopped doing tricks except one. The one who was still doing the tricks wasn't a kitten, actually it was A SEAL - and she wanted to go to Circus.

The girls took the animals to the circus. The seal was the star of the shows and the whole circus. The kittens were the worst in the whole circus and always lost in each of the shows. This made kittens MORE ANGRY and they made a MYSTERIOUS TORNADO with their powers. Tornado got everything in the world even Plessy and Lessy!!

THE SONG SNOW

Mysterious Tornado put everyone and everything of the world to a new planet called SONG SNOW. The planet was called Song Snow because the snow could sing a song on that planet.

"I will sing you a song,
ding dong ding dong
I love singing,
Sing Song Sing Song,
Bum bum baa - Bum bum baa,
Bum bum baa - Bum bum baaaaaaa..."
and that is the song the snow sings in the winter.

SAPPHIRE GEM
The people did not like the song because heard it so many times and got bored. So the people wanted to get out of Song Snow. The way to get out of Song Snow is difficult! You need to get THE SAPPHIRE GEM. It is the most powerful gem ever. The Sapphire Gem can be found in The Cave of Lava. To get to The Cave of Lava - you need to follow The Sapphire Map otherwise you'll get to The Cave of Thorns. It is the cave which has thorns.
No body wanted to get the Sapphire Gem except a tribe named Fillameanee.

THE FILLAMEANEE TRIBE
The Fillameanee tribe was very brave and they went on their mission. Plessy and Lessy also wanted to get out of Song Snow and joined Fillameanee tribe to find The Sapphire Gem.
They got the Sapphire Gem, but didn't know how to make the magic come to life! They got the Sapphire Gem to the village they lived in and went to the library to find out how to make the magic work. They didn't find any book about the magical gem. Some bad people knew the magical words to make The Sapphire Gem do it's magic.

Two brave people from Fillameanee tribe - Camey and Clatey decided to go to the bad people. They pretended to be bad guys and went in their costumes being pretenders. They made bad guys tell those magical words. They told it so loud that all of Song Snow could hear it! All of them wanted to make Sapphire Gem magic work and entire Fillameanee Tribe said "those magical words". BUT after that they found themselves in Magical Jail!!!
In that magical jail, they were few other people who were jailed before them. They told Fillameanee tribe that Sapphire Gem was a TRICK from the Bad Guys and it couldn't help them get out of Song Snow. The real way to get ouf of Song Snow is to get the "Fibber Animal".

THE FIBBER ANIMAL
Nobody knows what Fibber Animal is. Camey and Clatey escaped from the magical jail and ran to library to find about Fibber Animal.
The book of Fibber Animals said this animal could be a peacock, lion or bird - and even the book doesn't have the answer. In the book it says the animal can be VERY scary. But the author wrote riddle questions to the people reading the book:
Riddle One: It is cute.
Riddle Two: It has lot of hair.
Riddle Three: It lives in the jungle.
Riddle Four: It is orange and yellow.
Riddle Five: It can eat you.
Riddle Six: The dad and mom are really big.
Riddle Seven: It can also live in zoo.
Riddle Eight: It is really small.

People though a lot about riddle but they couldn't solve. They searched it for years. After three years, the people gave up. Plessy and Lessy then told them that it is their dream to get the Fibber Animal. People listened to the girls and they kept searching all around the Song Snow. After one year they saw the Fibber Animal's cage. The Fibber Animal was not in it's cage. They looked around for the clues and the only clue they found was the cage was VERY BIG than usual. It was REALLY REALLY BIG. That means the animal was BIG BIG BIG, Really BIG! What is the biggest animal? People guessed lion, jaguar, tiger or elephant or their cubs. With BIG cage people thought animal was Big. After one hour they found the riddle page. It was on the cage and it was also on the Fibber Anmial book of library. They still didn't believe that animal could be small. They looked so hard that their eyes hurted alot. Then they found an animal!! On it's collar it's name was THE FIBBER ANIMAL!!! Then everyone froze, they were surprised! They were always thinking that animal was BIG but the book was right and they were wrong - it was VERY SMALL!
Fillameanee Tribe with Plessy and Lessy used the powers of the Fibber Animal to get everyone back to Earth.

THE END.

Ghouta, Syria | Don't fall prey to Social Media, instead PRAY!

What's happening in Ghouta, Syria is soul wrenching. For the trauma Syrians are facing now a days, to call them "oppressed" will be an understatement. May ALLAH SWT give Syrians and all humans around the globe patience in these testing times. We don't have anything to do for Syrians but to pray in their haq. May ALLAH SWT destroy the oppressors and help the people who're being tortured, specially children!

Avoid sharing without verifying:
In the days of "likes" and "shares", my humble request to everyone is avoid blind shares! There are many photo shopped images in name of Syria, many very old pics being recirculated again as fresh ones. Please don't fall prey to it. If you want to create awareness about how humanity is being killed among your circle, share from only authentic news reporting agencies and avoid anything which is a random post.

Want to help Syrians?  Then here's food for thought:
Best help for fellow Syrian would be to pray for them. Qunoot-e-Nazila is being read in many mosques. Are we regular to Fajr to be part of these? Are we praying, crying in front of Allah SWT standing at night in tahajjud? We're not doing things which will actually help the cause, but are more interest in forwarding boycott images - which we also know that will be back in our life after a month. It reminds me of one of the favorite quote from supposedly from Shaykh Yasir Qadhi "If there is something you want in life and you are not praying tahajjud for it you don't really want it." Let's think over and act upon it.

May ALLAH SWT give me chance to act upon what I say and may He accept our deeds and duas, Ameen.

Planning your Haj: Check-lists, Suggestions, Do's and Dont's!

Assalamualaikum!

Apart from 'Taqwa' there are few items with you will enhance your pilgrimage in sha ALLAH:-

Preparations for Mina:

Mina Check-list:

Following items list shall prove handy when starting from Makkah towards Mina:
  • Quran Shareef, Dua books
  • ‌Extra ahraam
  • M‌at (Chataayi)
  • ‌Medicines
  • ‌Head set
  • ‌Charger or preferably power bank as charging points are difficult to find and also remain in high demand
  • Battery operated fan - Good to have specially for elders to beat the severe heat of day
  • Big empty bottle(s) for wudu - will be useful in Muzdalifah for any water scarce situations
  • Food:
    • Snacks specially fruits, ‌Dry fruits - to keep you energized
    • Fluids Like Tang, Electrol Water - Better to avoid spicy food specially on first 2 days
    • ‌Light snacks like Bread-‌jam will be useful
    • Something like Snickers, will be good option - easy to carry, heavy on stomach
  • Vaseline - Useful for males to apply in groin area to avoid any scratches which will appear as usually we are unused to conditions of not wearing under-garments for longer durations (This tip might seem silly but will be very effective in practical)
  • Post Ahraam items:
    • ‌New clothes for Tawaaf-e-Ziyarah
    • ‌Another pair of clothes to wear after coming out of ahraam
    • B‌athing Kit:
      • Towel, Soap
      • Razor blade (might turn useful when barbers are not available)
      • Polythene  bags (to keep your used clothes and ahraam)

Ayyam-ul-Tashreeq:

Day 1 (8th Dhul Hijjah): Mina

  • Avoid spicy food and relax as much as possible in order to keep yourself energised for upcoming most important days
  • Be more on fluids like Tang, Electrol, Glucon D will keep you hydrated
  • Better to switch off cell phone to save battery as charging is a problem in Mina or best is to carry a power bank
  • Important Note: Remember pole number when assigned with Mina Camp
  • Denominator denotes Road, so better remember road number and name of road as for searching it will be easier. if you take help of Saudi police or volunteers they would usually not understand English and even English numerals but know only Saudi names

Preparing for Arfaat/Muzdalifah from Mina:

  • Dua books
  • Extra ahraam
  • Mat for sleeping in Muzdalifah
  • Don't forget medicines while starting for Arfaat to be best prepared for the most important day of Haj
  • Energetic snacks
  • Empty bottles for Wudu

Day 2 (9th Dhul Hijjah): Arafat

  • Better carry less items for ease of travel as it can be hectic at muzdalifah
  • It will also let you continue your journey till Jamraat on next day which is best way to complete Jamraat on 10th morning with less crowd

Preparing for Jamraat:

  • Carry pebbles in empty water bottles for ease of carrying
  • Better to pick pebbles from mina or Arafat ground
  • If possible, better to avoid metros as walking might turn easiest way to opt
  • Metros might be stopped or delayed in many cases

Day 3(10th Dhul Hijjah): Eid ul Adha

  • This being hectic day after Arafat's tireness and wuqoof-e-Muzdalifah, it should be planned in optimal way
  • For Jamraat, it's better to be an early-bird and complete it while returning from Muzdalifah only (by-passing Mina)
  • After qurbani, we can come out of state of Ahram
  • Tawaf e Ziyara can be performed today

Day 4(11th Dhul Hijjah): Mina

Better option in my opinion is to connect Tawaf e Ziyarah with Jamraat on 11th
  • Start from Mina after mid-night and plan to offer Fajr in Haram Shareef
  • This lets you return before Dhuhr and save yourself from heat
  • Option for Taxi for return journey drops you till jamraat and gives a chance to offer namaz in Masjid Khaif
  • Dhuhr followed up with Jamraat completes 11th day activities

Day 5 (12th Dhul Hijjah): Mina

  • Jamraat to be done after zawal will complete the activities of Ayyam-ul-Tashreeq, Alhamdulillah.

As Haji will be travelling frequently to Haram Shareef, following items will prove handy for daily usage:

  • Ahraam for Umrah/Haj:
    • With 45-50 C temperature its advisable to take only cotton ahram
    • Big No for towel ahraam it looks good but in heat it's really difficult to carry and specially to wash later if you're planning re-use
    • But if you fear coldness in Muzdalifah night, you may keep one towel ahraam for yourself
    • Ladies:
      • Prefer burqa with non-black colour as it saves from extra heat
      • And think of any unique ribbon etc for identification. Also prefer not long burqa/abaya as difficult while tawaf with danger of stepping over
  • Cap/Umbrella
  • Sun glasses - Good to have as the white marble floor will be very shiny and bright for naked eye in afternoon
  • Sling or light hand bag for carrying to Haram Shareef to keep your books, some eatery, belongings etc
  • Shared taxis for economical ride

PedeStrain

Few months back, I stopped on a red signal at crossing near Koti. At the junction a 'ticker sound' caught my attention. First I thought it to be sound for orange signal (hinting furious Hyderabadi drivers to throttle) but later realized sound is meant for Pedestrian-crossing!
Whoa, what a move by Hyderabad Traffic Authority, firstly to install pedestrian signals at all major junctions and moreover helping visually challenged pedestrians with audio signal to let them know about Pedestrian crossing interval. I felt this was the friendliest moves by Hyderabad Traffic Police after their ever so generous way of tackling traffic every year at Industrial Exhibition, Nampally.

Days passed by, ticker sound was to be heard at more and more places but had subtle difference!?
There were seldom any pedestrian waiting for that 'Walk-signal'.
Either most of the pedestrians were ignorant, not aware that such pedestrian-crossing installations at many places;
Or other elite few ignored them and gave cold looks to such signals as if they were never meant to be green!

Hyderabadis, why this Kolaveri?
When we know that our hard earned tax is being used in something good why not work with such authorities to make our city look better and more ordered?
Waiting for a mere minute won't do any harm in our travel then why crossing roads abruptly at any time, any place?
Ain't we educated enough to follow and obey traffic rules or we're so very careless about it?
Mostly it goes unnoticed that most of the chokes, mini-jams, traffic snarls happen are due to pedestrians abruptly crossing...
How good will it look if we start using zebra-crossing and do justice to pedestrian signals?

Let's think together and not make our taxes go in vain,
Instead let's make it work to reduce our pain;
By following all traffic norms and avoid being bane,
And should never be called again PedeSTRAIN!

Modi MiniMax Cabinet

After 10 days of emphatic victory it was Government formation day for Modi-led-NDA government. With more talks about SAARC leaders' presence (specially Nawaz Sharif, Rajapakse) and portfolio distribution in swearing-in ceremony what we forgot to look at was the qualifications of new Union Ministers of Indian democracy!

Here goes my blog on how I see my country's Cabinet Ministers:-

Pre-text: Here's an interesting thing done while portfolio distribution. To keep the promise of "Minimum Government Maximum Governance", NDA has reduced ministers by clubbing similar/related ministry under one roof. This gives ministers more power and thus making efficient government.
With earlier coalition government of UPA there were more than double ministers handling different ministries and MoS portfolios. Such assignment was de-facto coalition government model to keep all allies happy may be at the cost of higher number of ministers.
But with a clear BJP mandate, they could play 'Big-boss' rule without any resistance in NDA thus going ahead with 'MiniMax' model.

Starting with the Prime Minister Narendra Damodardas Modi who is leader of Cabinet Ministers and rightly so! He has lead BJP-driven-NDA to power with his rhetoric speeches all across country. He looks be the boss taking all shots and right ring-master for all ministers (pray & hope that all his decisions will favor India-in-general and not-against-any community). Though lesser qualified that his predecessor but still with a degree of Masters in Political Sciences he's a leader to reckon with his all "leadership skills".

Coming to #2 spot of Home Minister, acquired by to-be-ex-BJP-President Rajnath Singh. Physics lecturer by profession he gained his name in BJP thanks to his RSS links and now he's all set to handle Home affairs of our country. His abilities were recently admired in case where he tackled Advani's fall-out over naming Modi as Prime Ministerial candidate in run-up to General Elections 2014. He has been a successful strategist and with his resourcing abilities he's a good prospect for nation.

Going from Home to External Affairs handed over to Sushma Swaraj a very well known face of BJP who has been Leader of Opposition of Lok Sabha in UPA tenure 2009-2014. She has served a long journey from being a Supreme Court advocate till taking charge of MEA.
(+ Minister of Overseas Indian Affairs)

Counting ahead the big guns of Modi Cabinet comes very close aide of Modi, Arun Jaitley who has been handed Finance Ministry (+ Corporate Affairs + Defense Ministry - temporarily?). Ex-Leader of Opposition of Rajya Sabha has actually lost his first Election 2014 (earlier he has been RS member) from Amritsar to Captain Amrinder Singh. But this hasn't stopped him from bagging one of top-4 spot in cabinet! This Commerce Graduate has even practiced Law at Supreme Court (obviously with degree in 'law' ;) ) handling prestigious cases. With commerce background and very vocal nature he's all set to be darling of India Inc and has quite some work at hand. With higher inflation, deprecating rupee value he has his tasks cut-out!

Next biggie in league is Venkaiah Naidu having origin in Nellore and has done Law from Andhra University. He's given charge for Minister of Urban Development. Also he'll be taking charge of Parliamentary Affairs taking legacy forward from UPA's Kamal Nath.
(+  Minister of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation + Parliamentary Affairs )

Controversial ex-President of BJP, Nitin Gadkari has been shown faith in and allocated Transport portfolio (combining Minister of Road Transport and Highways + Minister of Shipping)

Prime-time spokesperson of BJP Ravi Shankar Prasad has been rewarded for his efforts of tackling various media houses by assigning him Communication & Information Technology ministry.
(+ Minister for Law and Justice).
Few people have tipped that he might be brought back as "Information & Broadcasting Minister" but this has been allocated to another media-face from BJP Prakash Javadekar (MoS). He has started a chapter of allowing news on FM radio and 100% FDI in media houses. So, he's right on money from the day of appointment and hope he brings us result sooner than later. He has also be given charge for Parliamentary Affairs, Environment minstry.

Railway Ministry headed towards a rather new national face of BJP, Sadananda Gowda hailing from Karnataka. He has been a surprise factor of Modi cabinet to hand-over such high profile Railway ministry to a first time Parliamentarian.

Contesting from seat of Varanasi, Modi has to do something for the holy city. He has chose 'sadhvi' for his help. He appointed Uma Bharti as Minister for Water Resource highlighting Ganga rejuvenation. So, Modi has something to give back to his constituency in the name of new-looking-ministry headed familiar face of Banaras! What down-plays her appointment is her education which supposedly seems to be till 5th standard!!! Whether education or administration is necessary for being a good minister, only time will tell!!!

Coming to the only 'Muslim' face of Modi Cabinet, which got to be Minority Affairs has went to grand-niece of Maulana Azad, Najma Heptulla. Let's hope that Ex-congress-women and former-deputy-chairperson of Rajya Sabha will be termed as 'perfectionist' as her second cousin Amir Khan.
Unfortunately in her wee hours of taking charge she has struck controversy calling Muslims as non-minority. This will obviously be fodder for media but how it'll affect Muslims, only time will tell...

Sticking to subject of Lady cabinet minister, other 2 from BJP are Smriti Irani and Maneka Gandhi.
Television artiste Smriti who has handled many family member as and ideal bahu (daughter-in-law) is now in charge of Human Resource Development. Before taking office she's dragged into controversy over her educational qualification. While Ajay Maken of Congress questioned a non-graduate minister handling prestigious IITs and IIMs; controversy raked up with Smriti's inconsisted educational certificates submitted at different years. Still this story is far from over as Congress is finding soft target in her with considerable proofs to keep this story in news.

Continuing about 'bahu-talks', while one Nehru-Gandhi family bahu explicitly ruled for a decade, it's not end to road for Gandhi ladies. Another bahu Maneka has been handed over Ministry for Women and Child Development. [On a lighter note, I'm happier that she hasn't been assigned Food packaging or related ministry as India might have to go-green and say no to non-veg.. ;) ]

Rest in Peace - Gopinath Munde who was sworn-in as Cabinet Minsiter for Rural Development but died in a car accident on 3rd June 2014 in New Delhi. He was a senior BJP leader from Maharashtra!

Health ministry goes to Dr. Harshwardhan ex-CM candidate for Delhi'13 polls. Pioneer of Pulse Polio eradication problem is very suited person for this job and hope he will start a trend of "right-person-right-portfolio" assignment.

Coming to coalition....
Ex-Railway Minister LJP's Ram Vilas Paswan this time has been assigned 'Consumer Affairs'. Had BJP not got absolute majority and needed alliance for government Paswan must have been eyeing Railways again. But now he should be happy with allocated portfolio at a juncture where BJP could have formed government on their own.

Talking about another ally TDP has been provided a cabinet berth for "Civil Aviation" and the person chosen by TDP supremo Chandrababu for this post is his old associate Ashok Gajapati Raju. Right within taking charge he has struck a chord with his mentor by initiating talks of renaming Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi International airport after TDP founder N.T.Rama Rao. I feel it's just a ceremonial beginning of renaming saga and many government policies will follow this example!

Another core ally of BJP Siva Sena has found Cabinet position for Heavy Industries and the person picked by Thackreys is Anant Geete. Earlier there was discord between SS and BJP over allotment of position but it was surprisingly fixed over-night. Whether it was magic wand from PM or a mere political drama, it's for Pundits to decide!

Last minister among non-BJP cabinet minister is Siromani Akali Dal's Ms. Harsimrat Kaur, daughter-in-law of Punjab CM Prakash Singh Badal. She's taken over as Minister for Food Processing Industries.
